The Physics Of It All

Listen Up!
My WMP job is a little strange right now, I'm completely done and paid for with the first project, and now I'm waiting for a response about the next one. I know they're going to keep me around, so I'm just in this awkward waiting period. :: JoJ is back on track, despite not having a good host right now. My plan is to transfer all the previous episodes to my website for archival purposes, and continue using "filenanny.com" until minorcrisis comes back. Why wait for minorcrisis? Because minorcrisis is absolutely perfect for podcast hosting. It's cheap and gives plenty of bandwidth plus hotlinking abilities, which is a requirement for podcasts. We'll see what happens. ::

Daily Life:
Man, what stories do I have this week. Absolutely nothing. I'm trying to think of something that's happened worth noting over the past week, but there's absolutely nothing except for my juggling achievements and normal daily school stuff. Which is I guess in itself noteworthy. I've released a new batch of pics to deviantART, I came up with a great video game idea when I was hanging out with Mark, and I met an juggler2 (guy who does every form of manipulation except for regular juggling. IE: Diablo, Devil Stick, Poi, Yo-Yo, Hackeysack, etc) named Phoenix. Stuff works. As for the mixing it up with Phoenix, seems good, I mean I can use terminology and lingo and he'll get it, he's got good enough aim that we could pass head catches with rings from across the room. We came up with a great idea with that, that when we both have the chance, we'd run out into a hallway just as a class is letting out and just head catch pass from across the hall. So that's that, he'll bring in his devil sticks next time he comes in and we have the chance to hang out. Otherwise, that's about it for what's been happening.

Juggle This:
This past week I've been really adventurous with my juggling. I'm trying more stuff right now than I've probably ever tried on my own, and I'm making a lot of stuff I never thought I'd get. 94444, 5 ring full reverse flash, 5 ball 2 up 3 up run to a cascade from the multiplex, and a bunch of random ring stuff. But that's that.
I've mostly got to talk about the 2 shows that I've got coming up now. I just gt a gig at one of my dad's friend's birthday parties for his daughter, and I've had another birthday performance coming up on the 7th.
Also, I'm not sure how this has spread, but I've got a video floating around on my HD that I'm still wondering what to do with. "The Park", my first artistic video. I'm thinking I'm going to show it around a bit and see what people think. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it, literally. I didn't at any point mean to make a video like this, but before I knew it, a video appeared. I'll see what happens. Also while I'm speaking about videos I should say I've got an idea for my WJF5 profile video, and I've already got the footage I need from my random and constant collectings. It'll be a bit like Jason's 04 profile video in that it's one speech with clips of juggling cut between. Mine however, I don't really have any kind of rant I'm going on about juggling, and I'm going to do a bit of a different editing style and the music will be cut apart instead of a constant background music. That's the technical stuff though. Whatever. That'll come sometime before the 15th of next month if all goes well.

Drink Of The Gods

Listen Up!
You wanna know what happens when you don't have a Dew in 4 days, you get sick apparently. I ran out of Mountain Dew on Friday (which Saturday just happened to be the best day I've had in a while, more on that later), and yesterday, I came down with a cold or something. It was bad enough I had to stay home from class on Monday, and that was my ELT Lab, my favorite class of this semester so far. My parents still don't believe me, even though they know how much I like that class. Bah... :: The WMP project, is done. Absolutely, finally, fantastically done. I sent out the final version, and I shall hopefully get the rest of my payment soon. It should be posted up on http://www.genstarz.net/ when they finally launch the service. It'll probably be up here first though. http://skinister.deviantart.com/ :: JoJ hit a snag, I've postponed this weeks episode because of 2 big reasons, first of all, I'm sick and unable to record, at least Sunday and Monday I was. Second, and probably bigger, is that the host I've been using for JoJ just crapped out over the past weekend, and isn't back up yet. minorcrisis.net Episode 20 will come back next week, or maybe a late release this week if I find a recording time and minorcrisis comes back up. ::

Daily Life:
Saturday, one of the most polar days I've had in a while. First, I got up around 10:00 AM, because we were getting in a new couch, I don't know why, but we're getting one. So the guy shows up around 4:00 PM instead. Wonderful. In the time before then though, my dad and I went and brought the old couch and table down into the basement. What a great time we had there. I nearly fell down the cellar stairs trying to lift the thing because we couldn't slide it down the steps. So we got that done after about 20 minutes, and then like I said, the guy came at 4:00. So now, we have to get all the parts inside, take them out, and assemble them. Thing is, they gave us all the right parts, but the wrong instructional sheet. Took us about 45 minutes to figure that out.

We only figured it out after I had a thought. The instructions showed the 4 legs of the sofa attaching directly to the 4 corners of the rectangular base, though on the parts we had, there were no holes for them to scr4ew in, much less any really place where we could drill a hole and have them support the weight. After about a half hour stumbling around and trying to figure all that out, I think. "Well, if they don't attach to the base, where the hell else could they possibly go?" I then think, "The armrests?" and sure enough, I flip one over and there's two screw holes at both ends for the legs to screw right into. Almost in unison we go "Wrong instructions" and continue figuring out the assembly on our own. So we get done with that, with a few more snags, in about 1.5 more hours.

The rest of the day involved me just relaxing. But once 8:00 came around, I went back downstairs and realized I had a package come in for me in the mail. I open it up, and find the Yo-Yo I had ordered with some of the money I got from that last WMP skin project I told you about. I immediately go upstairs, open it up, and try it out. Glorious. I love how with manipulation, you take a month or two off of something, come back, and you're better than before. I love that. Oh, and then there was a new podcast that came out called the Revision3 Gazette, it's a behind the scenes show of the podcast studio, Revision3. I love behind the scenes stuff more than the actual content sometimes, so I was so happy that I'd already gotten my subscription, and that now I could watch this new show. I love seeing how stuff gets done, that way I can do it better myself, yup. And then I spent the night playing Red Faction 2 again, which is the best FPS ever. Go get it and try it, you'll think both Halo, Farcry, Half-Life, and everything else sucks ass after playing that multiplayer. So an interesting day all in all, and then I got sick the next day with a cold or something, and was out for the next 3 days.

Juggle This:
Lot of stuff to cover and not much time. So I'll quote myself from WJF Forums here. "Ok, today I spent about an hour working on ONE trick. 94444. I tried it over and over for a full hour, then I just got into a "Screw It" mood, and decided that now my goal would be to just grab 7 balls, run them for as long as I can, don't even think about collecting.

I got 11 catches to a clean finish. Hellz yeah. I've just found the most effective way for pushing your numbers records. Just leave the collecting to the subconscious mind, and throw what you can."

Yeah. So after I did that, I did a lot of other cool stuff, and basically I just went out and recorded some footage for a mini-video. Hopefully I'll get that made soon. But other than my actual accomplishments, JoJ is getting just interesting. At least this week it is. I get sick at the same time our hosting service goes down. So I had to ditch recording the episode, much less releasing it if I did record it, and yeah. I'm better, except for one thing with I really hate (let's just say my cold started in my body, moved to my stomach, then to my lower back and continued downwards), but the host ( minorcrisis.net ) is still down. Either way, I'm set to record episode 20 tomorrow, as for releasing it, well, we'll see what happens.

Don't Quite Feel Like It

Listen Up!
Well, Dan's turning Mobius-X into just MX, and redesigning the site, again. Guess what that means for me! Sometimes I wonder why I don't charge him money, I mean I don't visit the site really anymore, and as soon as I finish the modifications to thew site and forums, he's tired of it and wants to change it again. :: School updates are below. :: My next video should be out sometime within the next month or two. You'll see why in the juggle this section. Even besides that though, I've recorded probably half a dozen videos to be uploaded to youtube, so my profile won't run dry for a while. ::

Daily Life:
Yup, School's back in, and guess what, IT SUCKS! Are you reeady? GO! My Physics teacher knows less about what he's talking talking about than I am, and he's worse at head-math than I am. He also is completely unsure of himself and it insanely monotone, I am actually on the brink of falling asleep in this class. It's amazing.

I'm taking precalc, again. Pretty much speaks for itself there. I can't really make any judgments about the teacher yet, because there's only been two class sessions and because she doesn't have a really strong or standout personality like the other two professors I have this semester. She seems nice though, she's a bit misinformed though, but then again, the school switched the books on the class, so half the class, including the teacher had the wrong book. Fun times. But besides that, she's not asking for homework, she seems to be explaining things well (well, well for precalculus. Algebra and math can only be so interesting). Yeah, I think this time I'm going to get through it ok. Problem is, my parents are more paranoid than ever because this is my 3rd time through this class, and if you don't get a C or better in 3 times through, you can't take the class for 2 years again. I know I don't want that to happen, but I don't think they realize that I'm even more motivated than usual to pay attention in class and look over the practice problems. They're still making me do every suggested problem from the book, including plotting points on a graph and drawing a line. I have nothing to say about that.

Before we move off the subject of math class though, my father recently gave me a talk, as he likes to do sometimes, about me doing the practice problems after they made me do day one's practice suggestions. I was probably going to practice the stuff I didn't get in class anyways, but he gave the best speech and analogy he's ever given, and now I'm definitely going to practice whatever I'm not confident about. What did he do? He compared classes with juggling. I know. He basically explained to me how it's similar in a way as if classes = performances and that homework = practice. I can't not practice (do homework) and expect to do a 744 on command (quadratic equations, or whatever). It clicked, and now I get it, and am going to do the stuff, because I know how to practice for things, I just never really viewed homework as practice. I guess that was one of the fundamental problems, but still. Moving on.

Fundamentals Of Electrical Engineering. I am going to like this class, and I already do. First off, I already know a bit about electrics, I took a course in it freshmen year of high school, and I've watched my dad assemble computers many years ago. Plus in high school, sciences were my favorite courses. So I'm coming in, and it's already not hard. My professor, is possibly the best teacher I have ever had in my life, and I've only been to 4 sessions so far. He's even got catchphrases! "Are you ready? GO!" *points at someone to answer the question he asked. Bottom line, he's enthusiastic, he loves what he does, and just like with performing (teaching is a kind of performing, mind you) and it comes across to the audience. I don't want to say he's making class fun, but I do look forward to his class as opposed to dreading the other two.

Juggle This:
LOTS of new records for me. I've just exploded into progression. I have no idea why. So to sum it up though, here's a list of what I just did. Oh, and by the way, I got all of these on film.
A couple of my new gimmick acts will be in this next video.
5 rings, 744 to qualify and a pulldown, and a new personal 5 ring record in the same run.
5 balls, 6x4 double qualifying (already up on ytube).
3 balls, 3up 180 into mills mess.
4 rings, 7531 back to qualify.
5 balls, 2 rounds of 744 to collect.
4 rings, grindback from Standard Deviation, with pickup back into 4 rings.
and last but not least, 8 catches, of 7 balls, clean. Into a wild celebratory swearing!

And as for JoJ? Well, if you didn't hear the announcement from episode 18, Laura Ernst is now the dedicated backup co-host. If noone else can be/wants to be co-host, she'll jump in on Sunday night and record. So WEEKLY EPISODES! YAY! And they're getting a lot better too., Both in how easy it is for me to host, and edit. I'm still slightly nervous every recording, but it's more from trying to keep quiet as usual we record at night as opposed to the actual recording and talking. Either way, episodes are still improving, and we'll see what happens in episode 20, see you then!
